We use fullers earth to absorb excess oil and dirt, and to thoroughly cleanse the skin and scalp. In combination with other carefully chosen ingredients, all clays and powders contribute to the self-preservation of some of our formulas.
Historically, textile workers - or fullers - cleaned raw wool by kneading it in a mixture of water and fine clays to absorb dirt, oil and other contaminants. Modern fullers earth is fine-grained, crumbly clay that comes from natural deposits in England, the US and Japan.
