Actives at night, fragrance lotion in the morning. Actives need barrier-recovery hours (sleep) to do their work; fragrance lotion is for daytime presence. Mixing both at once dilutes the actives.

Yes if it's your first actives product or you've reacted to AHAs/retinoids/niacinamide before. Inner forearm, twice over 48 hours, watch for redness past 24 hours. Skip the patch test only if you've used this active class before with no issue.
