Questions answered

Foot care — questions answered

What is the best way to use TLC foot care products for cracked heels?

Soak feet in warm water for 10–15 minutes to soften skin. Gently use a foot file or pumice stone on callused areas while still damp. Rinse and dry thoroughly, then apply TLC foot cream generously — particularly on heels and ball of foot. Cover with cotton socks and leave overnight for an intensive treatment. Repeat 3× per week until heels improve, then twice weekly for maintenance.

How is TLC foot cream different from regular body lotion?

Foot cream is formulated for significantly thicker foot skin — it is more concentrated, often contains urea (which breaks down hardened skin) and higher levels of emollients than standard body lotion. Applying regular body lotion on feet provides some benefit but TLC foot cream is purpose-engineered for the unique demands of heel skin, which regenerates and calluses faster than any other body area.

How often should I use TLC foot cream?

Follow the directions on the individual product page. Urea-based foot creams are often used consistently on rough, thickened heel skin, but avoid applying active foot care on open cuts, bleeding cracks, or irritated skin. If stinging or irritation occurs, stop use and let the skin recover first.

How do I prevent foot odour with TLC foot care?

Clean feet thoroughly between toes daily (this is where odour-causing bacteria thrive). Dry completely after washing — particularly between toes. Apply TLC foot care products that contain antibacterial or astringent ingredients. Alternate shoes daily to allow them to dry between wears. Natural fibre socks (cotton, bamboo) reduce moisture build-up compared to synthetic materials. Keeping skin healthy and exfoliated reduces dead skin build-up, which bacteria feed on.

Can TLC foot cream be used on hands or elbows?

Foot cream can be used carefully on rough, thickened areas such as elbows or knees when the skin is intact. Avoid the face, broken skin, and freshly irritated areas. For hands, start with a small amount at night and patch test first if your skin is sensitive.

How long before I see improvement in cracked heels?

With consistent use (daily application after washing and at bedtime), visible improvement in heel softness and crack depth typically appears within 1–2 weeks. Severe cracks may take 3–4 weeks to fully resolve. Once heels are healthy, twice-weekly application maintains the condition. Wearing open-back footwear (sandals, slippers) in dry weather is a common accelerant of heel cracking — moisturising more frequently in those conditions helps.

Can people with diabetes use TLC foot care products?

We recommend consulting your doctor before using any new product on feet if you have diabetes. Diabetic skin has reduced sensation and healing capacity, making it more vulnerable to irritation and infection. If approved by your doctor, gentle, fragrance-light formulas are preferable. Inspect feet carefully after any foot care routine and report any unusual reactions to your healthcare provider promptly.

Do TLC foot products contain parabens or harsh preservatives?

Check the ingredient list on the individual product page before use, especially if the skin is cracked or irritated. Patch test first and stop use if irritation occurs.
