TL;DR: Forty questions in one place: how long a mist should last, how to make it last longer, whether it's safe in pregnancy, whether it stains silk, how much it should cost, and whether men can wear it. Short answers, with links to the long ones.

Longevity and performance

How long should a body mist last?
4–6 hours layered over the matching body lotion, and 8–12 hours when both are from the same fragrance world. On bare skin in humidity above 70%, expect considerably less.

Why does mine disappear in thirty minutes?
Almost always because it went onto dry, freshly showered skin. Fragrance needs a lipid layer to bind to. Moisturise first.

Does spraying more make it last longer?
No. Beyond about six sprays you increase projection in the first half hour, not the length of the tail. The tail is set by the base notes.

Why do I stop smelling my own fragrance?
Olfactory fatigue — your receptors adapt to a constant stimulus. Other people can still smell it. Do not re-spray to compensate.

Which notes last the longest?
Base notes: amber, oud, sandalwood, patchouli, oakmoss, musk and vanilla.

Does it last longer on clothes than skin?
Yes. Fabric is cooler and does not absorb into a living surface, so evaporation is slower.

Should I rub my wrists together?
No. Friction generates heat and breaks up the top notes, shortening the whole development.

Why is it strong for ten minutes and then gone?
The fragrance is top-heavy. Top notes are the cheapest tier to build and the most immediately appealing, so tightly costed fragrances put their money there.

Layering and application

What order should I layer in?
Heaviest to lightest: body wash, body oil if you use one, body lotion on damp skin, then mist last.

How long should I wait between lotion and mist?
About a minute, so the lotion absorbs rather than sitting wet on the surface.

Does it have to be the matching lotion?
No, but matching reinforces the same pyramid from underneath, which is what takes you from 4–6 hours to 8–12.

Can I layer two different fragrances?
Yes, if one is a soft base like vanilla, musk or sandalwood. Two strongly characterful worlds will argue.

How many sprays?
Around six — torso, arms and the back of the neck.

Where should I spray?
Warm pulse points project more and burn through faster; cooler areas hold longer and quieter. Use both deliberately.

Can I spray it in my hair?
Onto a hairbrush, then brush through. Spraying alcohol directly onto the scalp and lengths is drying.

Should I still layer in summer?
Yes, and it matters more in heat, not less. Use a lighter-textured lotion rather than skipping the step.

Safety, skin and pregnancy

Is the alcohol bad for my skin?
For most people it is mildly drying rather than harmful, and applying lotion first resolves it. That is irritation, not allergy.

Can I use it on sensitive skin?
Usually, with adjustments — mist over lotion, or onto clothing instead of skin. Patch test the inner arm for 24 hours first.

How do I know if I'm actually allergic?
Allergic contact dermatitis shows as itching, redness or small bumps confined to the application area, appearing within hours to two days, and it recurs reliably.

Can I use it during pregnancy?
There is no general medical prohibition on fragrance in pregnancy. The common issues are heightened smell sensitivity and nausea. Choose lighter worlds and discuss specific concerns with your own doctor.

Can I spray it after shaving?
Wait a few hours. Shaving removes part of the skin barrier along with the hair.

Can I use it on my face?
No. It is formulated for the body, and facial skin is thinner.

Is it safe with active skincare?
Keep fragrance off areas under treatment with retinoids or strong acids, and apply it elsewhere.

Why are there sunscreen ingredients in it?
Avobenzone and octyl methoxycinnamate protect the fragrance oils from light degradation. They are not there for your skin, and a mist is not a sunscreen.

Storage, shelf life and clothing

Does body mist expire?
Yes — roughly three years unopened and 12–18 months after opening, heavily dependent on storage.

Where should I keep it?
A cool, dark drawer or the original box. Never the bathroom, which combines steam, temperature swings and light.

How do I know it has gone off?
Smell it. Sour, sharp or metallic at the opening means it has oxidised. Also watch for noticeable darkening or cloudiness.

Can I still use an expired one?
It is rarely a safety issue but it will not smell as intended. Do not spray oxidised fragrance on reactive or broken skin.

Why has the colour changed?
Oxidation, usually from light exposure. Some deepening is normal; a dramatic change is not.

Does it stain clothes?
It can, though it is uncommon at body-mist concentration. Silk, satin, chiffon and pale synthetics are the risk group.

How far away should I spray from fabric?
20–25cm, one light moving pass, and let it dry fully.

Can I spray it on jewellery?
No. Alcohol degrades pearl nacre and can affect finishes and leather straps.

Choosing, price and the rest

Is body mist the same as perfume?
No. A mist carries roughly 1–3% fragrance oil for whole-body wear; an eau de parfum carries 15–20% for pulse points.

Can it replace deodorant?
No. It has no antibacterial or antiperspirant function. Wear both.

Can men wear body mist?
Yes. Nothing in fragrance chemistry is gendered, and Indian men have worn sandalwood, oud and rose for centuries. Read the pyramid, not the box.

How much should it cost?
Judge per millilitre. Full sizes in this range work out to ₹4.99–₹5.33 per ml; the 15ml travel size to ₹11.93.

Why are travel sizes so expensive per ml?
Packaging and filling cost roughly the same regardless of size. Use minis to discover a fragrance world, not to stock it.

How do I find my fragrance family?
Start from smells you already love outside perfume, then wear that family for a week before choosing a bottle.

How should I test a fragrance properly?
On your own skin, not a card, and give it two hours before deciding.

What should I wear in Indian summer?
Fresh and light floral worlds, and dry woody materials. Heavy amber and patchouli amplify on warm skin.

Quick questions

How long should a body mist last?
4–6 hours layered over the matching body lotion, and 8–12 hours when both come from the same fragrance world. On bare skin in humidity above 70%, expect considerably less.

Why does my body mist disappear so quickly?
Almost always because it is applied to dry, freshly showered skin. Fragrance needs a lipid layer to bind to — apply body lotion to damp skin, wait a minute, then mist.

Is body mist the same as perfume?
No. A body mist carries roughly 1–3% fragrance oil and is sprayed over the whole body; an eau de parfum carries 15–20% and is applied to pulse points.

Can body mist replace deodorant?
No. A body mist has no antibacterial or antiperspirant function. Use deodorant for odour control and a mist for fragrance.

Can men wear body mist?
Yes. Nothing in fragrance chemistry is gendered, and Indian men have worn sandalwood, oud and rose for centuries. Read the note pyramid rather than the label.

Does body mist expire?
Yes — roughly three years unopened and 12–18 months after opening, depending heavily on storage. Heat, light and air are what turn it.

Where should I store body mist?
In a cool, dark drawer or its original box. Never the bathroom, which combines steam, daily temperature swings and light.

Does body mist stain clothes?
It can, though it is uncommon at body-mist concentration. Silk, satin, chiffon and pale synthetics are the risk group — spray from 20–25cm and let it dry fully.

How many sprays of body mist should I use?
Around six, across the torso, arms and back of the neck. A mist is designed for coverage rather than concentration in one spot.

How much should a body mist cost in India?
Compare per millilitre rather than per bottle. Full-size mists in this range work out to ₹4.99–₹5.33 per ml, and the 15ml travel size to ₹11.93 per ml.

The TLC Pick

If one answer on this page is worth acting on, it is this one: lotion on damp skin, wait a minute, mist over the top. Take any mist from the body mist collection and any lotion from the body lotion range and try it tomorrow morning against your usual routine.

If you want the pairing that performs best, Fall in Love Body Mist over its matching lotion — saffron and jasmine, amberwood and cedar, fir resin and oakmoss.

She tried it once, out of scepticism, and at nine that night her husband put his chin on her shoulder and did not say anything at all.

How long do The Love Co. fragrances actually last? ★ Most asked

Body mists wear light on dry skin, feel fuller when layered over the matching body lotion, and settle into a richer trail when the full four-step Cleanse Ritual is used. Longevity is a function of layering, not concentration.

Are The Love Co. products safe for sensitive skin? Patch-test

TLC products are designed for body skin and daily rituals, with ingredient lists printed on pack and product pages. Patch test on the inner arm for 48 hours if you have known fragrance sensitivities, and choose fragrance-light options if your skin is very reactive.

What is the Cleanse Ritual?

TLC's four-step body care system. Step 01: Body Wash deposits the base accord in the shower. Step 02: Body Lotion on damp skin within three minutes, locking heart notes into the lipid layer. Step 03: Body Mist reactivates and projects the scent. Step 04: Solid Perfume at pulse points, activated by body heat. Each step extends the one before it.

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery: 3–5 working days across India. Express: 1–2 working days in 12 cities. Free above ₹499. Tracking link emailed the moment your order ships.

What if I don't like the scent?

Sealed, unused bottles can be returned within 14 days. Opened fragrance can't be exchanged — for hygiene reasons it can't be resold. The best way to find your scent first is our Fragrance Quiz or a 50ml mini. If your order arrived damaged or wrong, write to support@theloveco.in within 48 hours with photos and we'll replace it free.
